My Maw Maw the Master

Meet my Maw Maw.

My awesome Maw Maw

She is 91 years old this year and was my first quilting inspiration and teacher. She pieces, bastes, quilts, EVERYTHING by hand with the most beautiful, small, and even stitches.

She has made both me and my younger sister each a quilt. Each one is gorgeous and so lovingly made.

And she still churns them out today. She is currently working on this quilt.

And she just finished this one which I LOVE!

I love her quilts, and treasure the ones that I have that she made.  Love you Maw Maw!

  1. Oh my goodness, she is so incredibly talented! We hardly ever get to see modern-made quilts that are completely made by hand, without the help of a machine. Thank you for sharing your Maw Maw's gift. Her quilts are gorgeous!

  2. Aww, Love your Maw Maw, my grandmother was the one who got me into quilting many years ago. I miss her so much, if she had lived she would have been 86 this year. I still have my quilt that my grandmother and great grandmother pieced me. It may be a little tattered, but it is my favorite.

  3. Beautiful star blocks! Beautiful quilts! Beautiful Maw Maw!!

  4. That's so sweet. I am amazed by quilters that do everything by hand. You are very lucky to have such a talented lady to learn from! I love the star quilts.

  5. I love this post. Super sweet. Imagine the things I could do if I continue quilting for the next 60 years.... I might actually finish a quilt or two at the rate I've started.. HA!!!

  6. so awesome! mark's best friend's mom, ollie, still quilts everything by hand, too!
