One boy is 2 years old and loves trains. The 2nd boy is on his way and will be gracing the world wit his presence in Feb. <br />
<br />
So far the only like I have seen out there that is really boy appropriate is Sweetwater's Lucy's Crab Shack line. <br />
<br />
Any other suggestions??? <br />
<br />
Any at all??? <br/><br/><div class="separator"style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxkf8HEzk9zKi9-NOKAX82s0Ib4xS5rjSyucJFoBaHHAaS0rUgmC6xpbUBPeqdS3QQrrjcxli_sOZWMVcmzTTgmB4mUausBXoi3MFEWh3ZKl8wiP95OVAbfkA2kBpvZUB7_qFuMaYAMcI/s640/blogger-image-1078712281.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxkf8HEzk9zKi9-NOKAX82s0Ib4xS5rjSyucJFoBaHHAaS0rUgmC6xpbUBPeqdS3QQrrjcxli_sOZWMVcmzTTgmB4mUausBXoi3MFEWh3ZKl8wiP95OVAbfkA2kBpvZUB7_qFuMaYAMcI/s640/blogger-image-1078712281.jpg" /></a></div>Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-24639394613265210492012-10-27T14:58:00.001-05:002012-10-27T14:58:14.104-05:00Destash Alert!I have so much freaking fabric that I am not using, and it is just sad. So I am destashing some of it in an attempt to clear out the old and bring in some new! Up on the chopping block is a lot of vintage materials, Heather Ross (both her fabrics and Munki Munki), and Japanese fabrics. I have uploaded like 20 things today and have many more to go so check back often!<br />

<br />
Some things are auction, some are fixed prices, but I will combine shipping on everything once an invoice is requested. <br />

Only my rotary cutter decided it was a wee bit angry with me for being gone so long.<br />
<br />
So yeah...off to the doctor in the morning, and I certainly won't be painting what's left of my nail for a while. What's most annoying is I am left handed. ARGH. <br />
<br />
Anyone want to be my left hand for a while?? The pay is crap but I promise not to cut you!!<br />

<br />
So today is the day (I was dreading until I finished my own pouch and figured out this tutorial actually works!) that you all learn how to make this super cute All Buttoned Up Pouch! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiii52dFBgt3-4EtI7aIe5tABoARwboD2qoAgOej-vrXIXmPw-OAXP-vLIS-98c_Ub77A8vc1CrMKeP6N2UJn_RKTYR3BrLy7t4fP1_87rYCttdWuXxRmaVyCRWFar4SC-Q4dvQMMTAu_U/s1600/finished+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiii52dFBgt3-4EtI7aIe5tABoARwboD2qoAgOej-vrXIXmPw-OAXP-vLIS-98c_Ub77A8vc1CrMKeP6N2UJn_RKTYR3BrLy7t4fP1_87rYCttdWuXxRmaVyCRWFar4SC-Q4dvQMMTAu_U/s400/finished+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love this little thing and it is super easy to make with just a little bit of fabric, some hard interfacing, and some industrial snaps. Seriously, this is easily makeable in an hour. I did take tons of pictures though so that's why the post seems so long! So grab some supplies and lets get started! <br />
<br />
Here is what you will need:<br />
1. Template (<a href="https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-h0Hl9m5-L9LTJtS0Y2M3VHdGc">8.5 x 11 template</a>) (<a href="https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B-h0Hl9m5-L9RVVFTy02ZnRKMFE">11 x 17 template</a>)<br />
2. Exterior fabric approx: 10" x 15"<br />
3. 2 pieces of stiff interfacing each approx: 10" x 15"<br />
4. Lining fabric approx: 10" x 15"<br />
5. 2 sets of industrial strength snaps<br />
6. Snap installation tool<br />
7. Hammer<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEJuZeJWVRruyedug8beX5hyhzMkE88EejNcMp1vGqkGo7yQ3a6LqqXAfN5UEzvCV3KkaAWl0hqAgldCQEZ2KbQnxyCZasVQsN7Wmfice_eTirhUbSDuWxFSdGF7ljpEsx0jn_cnswLhc/s1600/tutorial+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEJuZeJWVRruyedug8beX5hyhzMkE88EejNcMp1vGqkGo7yQ3a6LqqXAfN5UEzvCV3KkaAWl0hqAgldCQEZ2KbQnxyCZasVQsN7Wmfice_eTirhUbSDuWxFSdGF7ljpEsx0jn_cnswLhc/s400/tutorial+001.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
First you need to print out the pattern template. There are 2 available versions - one that prints on legal size paper and one that prints on regular sized printer paper, but remember you will need to print it 2x and tape the pieces together without overlapping them . Whichever works best for you. <br />
<br />
You will need to cut 1 piece of your exterior fabric, 1 piece for your lining, and 2 pieces of stiff interfacing. You can use only 1 piece of interfacing so that the case is a bit more flexible, but do not use more than 2 or you snaps will not be able to make it through all the layers. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs_InXJKgavNo7TazIWo81zVd2eFf9giH9sA3LYTiE8m_Xr_QFYWSC_sp_mZ0CmuEiXyCXFY74Fa0HtPxOfktGpLC6_iSfKIZ8iVSI9zKoxTTaZDbX8oPcE2YjwyYqzbDvc-lBFNGhJaw/s1600/tutorial+004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs_InXJKgavNo7TazIWo81zVd2eFf9giH9sA3LYTiE8m_Xr_QFYWSC_sp_mZ0CmuEiXyCXFY74Fa0HtPxOfktGpLC6_iSfKIZ8iVSI9zKoxTTaZDbX8oPcE2YjwyYqzbDvc-lBFNGhJaw/s400/tutorial+004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbDkQHLr3M-UQ-8wZv1c1dCAOTU61u6XArgP3PcDBN5QK1ZJQAT9jtRNKBuaBSP1hyWwFp1iZ4FHTy3rE-lsKWfd8zsPst5ecO6igX8IKj93-0okQpgIAxTO1TTzDzt5AsbSNUdHEmXrE/s1600/tutorial+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbDkQHLr3M-UQ-8wZv1c1dCAOTU61u6XArgP3PcDBN5QK1ZJQAT9jtRNKBuaBSP1hyWwFp1iZ4FHTy3rE-lsKWfd8zsPst5ecO6igX8IKj93-0okQpgIAxTO1TTzDzt5AsbSNUdHEmXrE/s400/tutorial+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirBkCURS8Q3CTGDWDTsf6EMatw89ZM0HY6iRuezqAlBuJlC-uglM4kp1EAH_5YlXqbzUA9Y5NmdU-TdX4eBoKZ_I-ixJQHAliQ_dZ78-J4SCuAzDpOnkuRe2fl2TdeeNJ6jb74dNS3kvw/s1600/tutorial+003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirBkCURS8Q3CTGDWDTsf6EMatw89ZM0HY6iRuezqAlBuJlC-uglM4kp1EAH_5YlXqbzUA9Y5NmdU-TdX4eBoKZ_I-ixJQHAliQ_dZ78-J4SCuAzDpOnkuRe2fl2TdeeNJ6jb74dNS3kvw/s400/tutorial+003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Next you need to layer the pieces so that you can sew them all together. First lay down the 2 layers of interfacing, the lining right side up, and the exterior piece right side down. I also suggest spray basting the layers together so that they don't ripple within the pouch once you piece it together. <br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfH9JJOt21GXZkvcT6SZO91CvT4tobEWsMuf_ZvtqUvoAV_MR0C862KnbbQ4TUFG6D8z5SiZQ7li1r-x0X2Vy33otYkYJdB1iMX8b4A6jkMUINJrMLlran50NH66TRV5DTObOPs8cSO7g/s1600/tutorial+005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfH9JJOt21GXZkvcT6SZO91CvT4tobEWsMuf_ZvtqUvoAV_MR0C862KnbbQ4TUFG6D8z5SiZQ7li1r-x0X2Vy33otYkYJdB1iMX8b4A6jkMUINJrMLlran50NH66TRV5DTObOPs8cSO7g/s400/tutorial+005.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I suggest starting at the end of one of the long sides and finishing at the top of the same long side. You will need quite a large opening to turn this piece with the super stiff interfacing. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVXOPU_YvIawzoL-d5H2ux8KOsC4r4vYbQRZnmun1LKuK88nELrCPDfr8WQa4DJnf5pZlvYbPuO5KvBzzUF8KXGslGF-YaYTIllALtrWa7VcG1gBKVO_tcx1HJ8iJr5uSBxRLlXIaGm08/s1600/tutorial+007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVXOPU_YvIawzoL-d5H2ux8KOsC4r4vYbQRZnmun1LKuK88nELrCPDfr8WQa4DJnf5pZlvYbPuO5KvBzzUF8KXGslGF-YaYTIllALtrWa7VcG1gBKVO_tcx1HJ8iJr5uSBxRLlXIaGm08/s400/tutorial+007.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You will need to do this slowly, especially when you get to the corners around the end flaps. If you are using a 1/4" foot the corners will easily get caught up in the foot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyL2Y6bKDEBBSl20zV-wCT1YzgrsV8BikONMxftSGf6QPGCNHb9-5fPBMivY77zBkc6_tOW3WNYmFaIehrUFCQznsC_q59I0ffrD_pCgBrhtMZWIfgckVkQjHtKVICo0A-VYCH2gg3MgE/s1600/tutorial+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyL2Y6bKDEBBSl20zV-wCT1YzgrsV8BikONMxftSGf6QPGCNHb9-5fPBMivY77zBkc6_tOW3WNYmFaIehrUFCQznsC_q59I0ffrD_pCgBrhtMZWIfgckVkQjHtKVICo0A-VYCH2gg3MgE/s400/tutorial+009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Once sewn all the way around and before you turn it you are going to want to trim all the outside corners to reduce bulk.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9u1TZNNP6NyKWkzFsueOLIgFKIiELzGQ5RLac9pwpIy4BC4CprElXIPGcK_E-SuRoUBFMUrsKyg22ADX1NBn_aKI9IYvHBeQZJQ1sN3s46VKRueortFCpbajvh1k_K71Cq4oIFjZmaA/s1600/tutorial+010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjD9u1TZNNP6NyKWkzFsueOLIgFKIiELzGQ5RLac9pwpIy4BC4CprElXIPGcK_E-SuRoUBFMUrsKyg22ADX1NBn_aKI9IYvHBeQZJQ1sN3s46VKRueortFCpbajvh1k_K71Cq4oIFjZmaA/s400/tutorial+010.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Also you are going to want to snip the interior corners. It's hard to see in the photo but I made 3 tiny snips to allow for some flexibility. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSVIBDflcmfqViWJyMamdIU5_rgsopjWGSS7VhosUQdMWrPDmm_e6xudlFki1Mh28BF4oSU6lrdqM32vEyvTWpOGFAKs_x3dP9-hhq_AGmWEj_19lVfnTpJjIYCTGQlyYNw74uKLna40M/s1600/tutorial+012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSVIBDflcmfqViWJyMamdIU5_rgsopjWGSS7VhosUQdMWrPDmm_e6xudlFki1Mh28BF4oSU6lrdqM32vEyvTWpOGFAKs_x3dP9-hhq_AGmWEj_19lVfnTpJjIYCTGQlyYNw74uKLna40M/s400/tutorial+012.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now you are ready to turn the fabric. You will definitely want a turning tool or awl on the corners to make them super square. Then topstitch about 1/8" away from the edge all the way around to sew down your opening and just to make it look a bit more finished. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ld8MPqEiCQcWsyUTRhgqo_c2NFojpw0M0CGx6nOG7TzPHtyl4tmWHWSUu8Vpx03FkdOyG5ip1erBSUkDOpaVEvdG6kPspfOMoW3gE2HQ77yAIEa0Mu3cf_6a1l9jspIvgC8MrXn7zNY/s1600/tutorial+014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0ld8MPqEiCQcWsyUTRhgqo_c2NFojpw0M0CGx6nOG7TzPHtyl4tmWHWSUu8Vpx03FkdOyG5ip1erBSUkDOpaVEvdG6kPspfOMoW3gE2HQ77yAIEa0Mu3cf_6a1l9jspIvgC8MrXn7zNY/s400/tutorial+014.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now we are ready to attach the snaps! <br />
<br />
You will need 2 complete sets to finish the pouch. The outside of the snaps will go on the end flaps, and the bottoms of the snaps will go on the side of the pouch that you did not leave open to turn. That way you have a nicer finished edge on the outside. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd9k8fwchbi4ZF8chAERDD8FHr-FRNKykhnCiPjc-1ESyM0AzqWxZYgEF1EviSH2Mi7XvIjvcaqOU_s-9kBFOgDpEUMKb6aITxpLBnOmRT42uHw7AkFWfZVa-EMt-6oj22hTPNxyUySRY/s1600/tutorial+015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjd9k8fwchbi4ZF8chAERDD8FHr-FRNKykhnCiPjc-1ESyM0AzqWxZYgEF1EviSH2Mi7XvIjvcaqOU_s-9kBFOgDpEUMKb6aITxpLBnOmRT42uHw7AkFWfZVa-EMt-6oj22hTPNxyUySRY/s400/tutorial+015.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Before placing the snaps, fold up the pouch to determine where best to place the snaps on the end flaps. Don't just make them center on the flap because you will lose some length of the flap once it is folded over due to the many layers of the pouch.<br />
<br />
Once you figure out where you want to put the tops of the snaps follow the directions on how to install the snap and voila - one part of the snap is in! Repeat on the flap on the other end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Now the easiest way to attach the bottoms of the snaps on the sides is to fold the pouch as if it were snapped shut and trace around the upper snap with a water soluble pencil so that you can be assured the 2 halves of the snap will line up.<br />

<br />
Now this part is a bit trickier, because you have to place the prong side of the snap on the lining side and press through the prongs so that they end up at the center of your traced circle. This can be a bit frustrating as it could snag you fabric if you push it through and it isn't where you want it. So do it slowly and carefully. Once you have the prongs poking through where you want them too finish installing the snap per the directions. <br />
<br />
And now you are done!! <br />
<br />

Imagine you could embroider your kiddo's initials on the back side or use up old quilt blocks you aren't going to use for a quilt anymore and make it into the pouches exterior. Or better yet, a solid exterior with a pieced interior for that extra little pop of interest! <br />

<br />
So this is my first of 2 official posts for the Bella Solids Parade of 2012! I am featuring 4 brand new shades of Bella Solids today, and then am going to show you some fantastic complimentary fabrics for these beautiful new colors.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The shades I am going to share with you are:<br />
Bella Solid # 211 : Citrine <br />
Bella Solid # 218 : Indigo<br />
Bella Solid # 216 : Peacock<br />
Bella Solid # 203 : Orchid <br />
<br />

<br />
First up, we have CITRINE! This fabric looks freaking fantastic with Tula Pink's Prince Charming line. It's like Moda matched the color spot on with Tula's assistance. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiD2_8dcBDp4Oxi6RGTPzWcxI-r_Ikh5Bc7D4x7IbB2fP9GNehq9vXkJQqR3TvkPzWmGM4VhRLdMHdC-Rn5xmgmNqmDX1sm_GtvgnsehhKD1xPGJLoVs7oqbOBFfLWK3r8hzJrvL840U4/s1600/Bella+Parade+011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiD2_8dcBDp4Oxi6RGTPzWcxI-r_Ikh5Bc7D4x7IbB2fP9GNehq9vXkJQqR3TvkPzWmGM4VhRLdMHdC-Rn5xmgmNqmDX1sm_GtvgnsehhKD1xPGJLoVs7oqbOBFfLWK3r8hzJrvL840U4/s400/Bella+Parade+011.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Next there's INDIGO! I love this shade with Tula Pink's Parisville line. It matches her girls so perfectly!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vXuLVBjdJ3RCkH7L6NJqPiPdPU88RInfH4FPCsOu04HAHyX5yKNxzaHnqdohcdY3YlSc2gR4LBjHqXv7WM4jxngoBDV8QtIstC97WQOciE6EPatKrCRGudykP6kkomthQiAO8E8EHt0/s1600/Bella+Parade+013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7vXuLVBjdJ3RCkH7L6NJqPiPdPU88RInfH4FPCsOu04HAHyX5yKNxzaHnqdohcdY3YlSc2gR4LBjHqXv7WM4jxngoBDV8QtIstC97WQOciE6EPatKrCRGudykP6kkomthQiAO8E8EHt0/s400/Bella+Parade+013.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Next up.... PEACOCK! This shade goes so perfectly with Tula Pink's Plume line. Not so much with the first fabric on my layer cake (of course - and I couldn't bear to take it apart just for 1 picture) but take my word for it! I promise you! Now on Fat quarter shop, I think the color on my screen looks a bit more blue-ish aqua but it definitely leans more green. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDlKHsg0UCmL0lJw9qbkOVorIR7iwbqWn0oQA4laz5-NSfhVmURS9Pweznv5onoMu3Hfy8jffk7fy0jkh6GYsAuNfc9GDmhgBtZazWsmXiMgeRFGslojFhKguCiO0w_OPKpOojZLnd-yY/s1600/Bella+Parade+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDlKHsg0UCmL0lJw9qbkOVorIR7iwbqWn0oQA4laz5-NSfhVmURS9Pweznv5onoMu3Hfy8jffk7fy0jkh6GYsAuNfc9GDmhgBtZazWsmXiMgeRFGslojFhKguCiO0w_OPKpOojZLnd-yY/s400/Bella+Parade+006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
***(And seriously I JUST REALIZED as I was typing this post that I ended up matching 3 of my 4 shades with various Tula Pink lines! Geeze. Well I am a total Tula troop through and through - but I swear I didn't do that on purpose!)***<br />
<br />
Finally, we have ORCHID! (i.e. the only shade I didn't match with a Tula Pink line) I loved this shade with my set of pink/purple oakshot cottons. I love the feeling of the Bella solids alongside the feeling of the oakshots. They are both so soft, and the colors are so sweet. And since oakshots can be so expensive this shade of Bella will be a perfect match to make something with them both. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtN31_Js4RsiMI_ygZ3vfnvvu6q6IUTDl7x8R-xJ-ne04Ifpxf9vGdGkGF8-PaNC2pUvhrja7WhPEL0KDTJsMuU7T8nMbcstDCEzuektFULPxU9zueh__MGHE4rpfmzG5uJm5m3RTsKnQ/s1600/Bella+Parade+009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtN31_Js4RsiMI_ygZ3vfnvvu6q6IUTDl7x8R-xJ-ne04Ifpxf9vGdGkGF8-PaNC2pUvhrja7WhPEL0KDTJsMuU7T8nMbcstDCEzuektFULPxU9zueh__MGHE4rpfmzG5uJm5m3RTsKnQ/s400/Bella+Parade+009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Also, I realized right off the bat when I opened my package from Fat Quarter Shop that all 4 of these lovely shades would be amazing with Lotta Jansporter's Echo line! I only pulled a few prints but honestly they look great with all the colors of that line, even the chocolate brown. Plus toss in a bit of Kona Ash (which I had in my stash) or some Bella Zen Gray and it's even more fantastic. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwQO1AlovnxAm0eXlZJYcY40oH_XjVa4QufJOJeNnxR_B2IdQiH_Vi2LtpQtyiw9akYHKMpDNti8X_iwJIxoA7r07hgz4cExW_iYQMaQx-tvwzyR4UBExaNkr7wvTIFlz7E9tfmyLbVaI/s1600/Bella+Parade+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwQO1AlovnxAm0eXlZJYcY40oH_XjVa4QufJOJeNnxR_B2IdQiH_Vi2LtpQtyiw9akYHKMpDNti8X_iwJIxoA7r07hgz4cExW_iYQMaQx-tvwzyR4UBExaNkr7wvTIFlz7E9tfmyLbVaI/s400/Bella+Parade+002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So yeah, Moda has made some fantastic new shades for their Bella Solids line and they are lovely! And hope you will join me tomorrow for a tutorial on how to make a super cute little buttoned up pouch perfect for pens, pencils, crochet hooks, knitting needles, and whatever else you can think of!<br />

I am a horrible blogger and a horrible quilter right now. And my only excuse is that I just haven't been feeling my crafty mojo since I have moved. A couple of times it has revealed itself to me a tiny bit - enough to do some hand work - but otherwise it has been a total no show.<br />
<br />
Still though I did join the Boston Modern Quilt Guild, and since then I have been given honored by being named their Member of the Month! You can see the post <a href="http://www.bostonmqg.blogspot.com/2012/05/member-of-month-bryanna-omara.html">here</a>!<br />

<br />
I know I am! This was just the swift kick in the pants I needed to do more with my favorite fabrics than just pull them out to look at them, pet them, hug them, kiss them, and then tuck them back into my stash.<br />

<br />
A MONTH!<br />
<br />
What have I been doing for all this time you may ask, well I am still just settling into my new life. Working, making friends, and exploring!<br />
<br />
I have been working on my Tula Pink Parisville hang sewing quilt that I showed a peak of before <a href="http://ablondquilts.blogspot.com/2012/03/do-you-see-what-i-see.html">here</a> and <a href="http://ablondquilts.blogspot.com/2012/02/time-consuming-much.html">here</a>. But lets be honest - that quilt is going to be a....long term project. <br />
<br />
I do have some exciting news but I am not sure I can share it just yet, but hopefully very soon! Until then my lovelies stay tuned!Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-79474898683528753252012-03-10T18:57:00.001-06:002012-03-10T18:59:35.513-06:00A Review of Quilts from the House of Tula Pink<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVwdAZQ2bOyq-1wBAtDyMnwn5Zq2VZVdOlZWh73vHuAtU1GgDEJUR8H48Dl7y9F_toJKAYobs1VkSHpn23iWNBiNMf45yYDD1hvk2UViZpPBHOo4LvWlodeOX-rkVRa9EQKO2e5mzMgI8/s1600/2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVwdAZQ2bOyq-1wBAtDyMnwn5Zq2VZVdOlZWh73vHuAtU1GgDEJUR8H48Dl7y9F_toJKAYobs1VkSHpn23iWNBiNMf45yYDD1hvk2UViZpPBHOo4LvWlodeOX-rkVRa9EQKO2e5mzMgI8/s640/2.JPG" width="478" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: left;">The illustrations and directions were hand drawn and so sweet. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFBm-c48RSoJrDpuVOYA704FMmmSqEiW0qWPHSW9rcw0t8b-4VmIHklwOpLZj0Ee-i7Z2gsDQPDY5OcQVLqDQbX9vzKQyzhY5aorr6rcScDexloZk_dPWFSfsZGm-4dnPOY2fTAeq9FSs/s1600/photo+1s.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFBm-c48RSoJrDpuVOYA704FMmmSqEiW0qWPHSW9rcw0t8b-4VmIHklwOpLZj0Ee-i7Z2gsDQPDY5OcQVLqDQbX9vzKQyzhY5aorr6rcScDexloZk_dPWFSfsZGm-4dnPOY2fTAeq9FSs/s640/photo+1s.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">One of my favorite non-quilting projects is this awesome lampshade embroidery decoration. Its so cute! And I already have the perfect lamp from Ikea to try it on!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkNX61Q1HHLU-xtGa9VqCaiP31X2hCbl6gtWxm7yY6rHkPLZJ_CVQBlmIUY9oj-KCxDpLXpffBvlf8eyYkaMOMEp5C3ycFvkEGhZWAFLeXqXLWyXEyJwdCwuDqmpKOzk_G9meQ5X0KGXE/s1600/photo+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="478" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkNX61Q1HHLU-xtGa9VqCaiP31X2hCbl6gtWxm7yY6rHkPLZJ_CVQBlmIUY9oj-KCxDpLXpffBvlf8eyYkaMOMEp5C3ycFvkEGhZWAFLeXqXLWyXEyJwdCwuDqmpKOzk_G9meQ5X0KGXE/s640/photo+2.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">The absolute BEST part of the book though was the story behind the quilting of each quilt. Tula explains why she wanted certain motifs and designs, and that the quilting adds another dimension to the quilt as a whole. Its not just about the design or the fabric or the piecing. It's about everything all together, and the quilting plays a big part in that. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">All in all this book is an awesome addition to my sewing library. True I am a bit biased as I love her fabrics, but still this is a valuable tool for those looking to learn to quilt and those more experienced sewers who need a little bit of inspiration in their lives! GET IT!</div>Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-32409678574673614932012-03-05T18:05:00.000-06:002012-03-05T18:05:59.558-06:00Do you see what I see?<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6811226414/" title="Untitled by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7065/6811226414_46bc96efd4.jpg" width="500" height="374" alt=""></a><br />

Yes. That one. <br />

<br />
I have been working on these hexies made from Tula Pink's Parisville line for a while now, picking them up when I have time, and have made quite a bit of progress!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6904674725/" title="Parisville Hexagons by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Parisville Hexagons" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7058/6904674725_a9f2d47f5d.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I do have <strike>a plan</strike> <strike>a design</strike> a vague idea of something or other in my head for a baby blanket made from these hexies. Until then I just love love taking them out and staring at the pile.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6904675697/" title="Parisville Hexagons by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Parisville Hexagons" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7204/6904675697_af7a391031.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I made these hexies from two charm square packs and 2.5" inch hexagons. The best part was that the charms were sometimes cut so perfectly as to look fussy cut!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6904676601/" title="Parisville Hexagons by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Parisville Hexagons" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7188/6904676601_e91c10b213.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />

<br />
Now I have been making hexagons for quite a bit now, and thanks to <a href="http://www.fatquarterly.com/">Fat Quarterly</a> Issue 8 and its coupon inside for <a href="http://www.paperpieces.com/">PaperPieces.com</a> I decided to branch out and try a bunch of new sizes! So hopefully soon you will be seeing triangles, squares, and diamonds in this gorgeous line too!<br />
<br />

Thankfully it was a great turnout and I was only like 1 of 5 new kids! Gotta love company! Everyone was extremely sweet, kind, and welcoming, and I really enjoyed myself. They did show and tell, talked about an upcoming retreat (which sadly I am too late to sign up for), and an upcoming quilt show they are participating in this fall!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">After the meeting the amazing ladies behind <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/sewfreshfabrics">Sew Fresh Fabrics</a> invited us to their "store" to do a little bit of shopping! Normally they are not open to the public, and only sell through their etsy shop, but they were awesome enough to the members of the BMQG to come over to their space, paw their bolts, drool on their fat quarters, and make a significant dent in their inventory! And please note, I have NOT been asked to blog about the shop, I simply feel that when I receive excellent customer service I should share it. So if you have never shopped with <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/sewfreshfabrics">Sew Fresh Fabrics</a> before I highly recommend them. <br />
<br />
Also, Amy from <a href="http://duringquiettime.blogspot.com/">During Quiet Time</a> took some great pictures of their space and stock! So be sure to check out her <a href="http://duringquiettime.blogspot.com/2012/02/ladies-of-sew-fresh-fabrics.html">post</a>! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">They have a fantastic selection of <a href="http://www.etsy.com/shop/sewfreshfabrics?section_id=6609909">Japanese fabrics</a>, including this gorgeous <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/85199826/alphabet-panel-from-yuwa-of-japan">alphabet panel</a> that I snatched up immediately. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdT5ekYX7vyq0XoMllamLN-cU5VJQlqEQ5liOCIsZU2SUJmkPzyjst_Ek6LRJYC3RFYPneU5isUqh1pvXwiBh6eC6oHOZ6kk14HDM80U_3EEVxwtllLyv0j-vM-xOiBtsgemMxNIIywbU/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdT5ekYX7vyq0XoMllamLN-cU5VJQlqEQ5liOCIsZU2SUJmkPzyjst_Ek6LRJYC3RFYPneU5isUqh1pvXwiBh6eC6oHOZ6kk14HDM80U_3EEVxwtllLyv0j-vM-xOiBtsgemMxNIIywbU/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+001.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"> Any idea what I am going to do with it? Of course not - but how could I resist it?! The colors are bright, the texts sweet, and the pictures adorable. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR9dchZTu6oslx_Y1zgpI_tCbA_HuznHeSfp6j3pTdH_06623oaJGB5Ok7LJd1AQmrZyEbVGrYNJbXosVcOoBlegR60cYr2pgfFQW2A0IltYQsELEFsDXNM7RJMKmTR73qUTPjBD6HRbw/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhR9dchZTu6oslx_Y1zgpI_tCbA_HuznHeSfp6j3pTdH_06623oaJGB5Ok7LJd1AQmrZyEbVGrYNJbXosVcOoBlegR60cYr2pgfFQW2A0IltYQsELEFsDXNM7RJMKmTR73qUTPjBD6HRbw/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+006.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">These are just a few of my favorite panels on this adorable piece! And the great part is that 1 panel is 2 complete sets of these tiles!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJazyJFo3OaFHi3dBoEMuflIaaQO-KczmnQw0an2tdln6_J_K0xakgsQ-UkZ8GqrBq3E9eMbY9zFEdOIMawKMWsQGJoYIoJYX2qnmQdTzTfg1dd2mhnnBOjTLZtzC8KCWwlajBZUMeRXk/s1600/mosaic.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJazyJFo3OaFHi3dBoEMuflIaaQO-KczmnQw0an2tdln6_J_K0xakgsQ-UkZ8GqrBq3E9eMbY9zFEdOIMawKMWsQGJoYIoJYX2qnmQdTzTfg1dd2mhnnBOjTLZtzC8KCWwlajBZUMeRXk/s640/mosaic.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">They also have sooooo many modern lines - I was damn near drooling on the bolts. So many of these lines I hadn't gotten to see in person yet, including Lotta Jansdotter's Echo line. I have seen swatch pictures, quilts, handbags, skirts, and tons of other things made from these prints, but was never all that attracted to the line.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg02Csgp9ohxNCYJkYho6qQVKW4Y5CbTLhT_-6zAVTes4jSH3Vp1Ryu8EXYhfAisawg2bYC22145O4FyRMkWNdg7vaynH3QpVba-MOxUNm7ebkSM6WnaessEV7QvTXxYj9mxFQsabUDjC0/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+022.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg02Csgp9ohxNCYJkYho6qQVKW4Y5CbTLhT_-6zAVTes4jSH3Vp1Ryu8EXYhfAisawg2bYC22145O4FyRMkWNdg7vaynH3QpVba-MOxUNm7ebkSM6WnaessEV7QvTXxYj9mxFQsabUDjC0/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+022.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">But seeing it there in front of me - all those bolts in these deep jewel tones with pops of pink and aqua was just too much for my poor wallet to resist. Suddently I LOVED THIS LINE!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Y1CsVpPE7fK5LfcCHPg95ik-iQk9RULSkZQJpU2h8f8oJOa5-Zs1H-keUE9UJ5URZJ_fcGuskQneS7Jj9AKeCoaxUkJf383LUcprrKQfAXgqUxzR6132rr5Og2Do5OCZMK_QD7sQGMk/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+016.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0Y1CsVpPE7fK5LfcCHPg95ik-iQk9RULSkZQJpU2h8f8oJOa5-Zs1H-keUE9UJ5URZJ_fcGuskQneS7Jj9AKeCoaxUkJf383LUcprrKQfAXgqUxzR6132rr5Og2Do5OCZMK_QD7sQGMk/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+016.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">And then I found a <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/92655936/full-echo-collection-from-lotta">fat quarter bundle</a> pre-cut and just waiting for me to take it home, love it, pet it, and transform it into a cuddly, super warm, blanket!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowryBEMVYEG0MIMOiSrZlqNCLAZVlXstoFLH1o_FexdkEQFsLt4Q5nL2wbOkeVs-43Vtp1wKt9Vl-L12mkUcb0tms2S5Wx5EgxOp_D17IcrVP_1Qnlfil3GG2wQJbRRmjYXj4YBhjdwo/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+025.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiowryBEMVYEG0MIMOiSrZlqNCLAZVlXstoFLH1o_FexdkEQFsLt4Q5nL2wbOkeVs-43Vtp1wKt9Vl-L12mkUcb0tms2S5Wx5EgxOp_D17IcrVP_1Qnlfil3GG2wQJbRRmjYXj4YBhjdwo/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+025.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Plus to make this even more irresistable Sew Fresh Fabrics makes Kona Cotton solid bundles to match the line! This way I don't have to wait till I get home, pull out my color card, and try to match up solids myself! The work is already done for me!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzdS1ydxU68bV01kvY1K0scuy_WtBM-IJeB-ggAJPwaLOh0tMHqYvkENGXTYbmlMQR3ye6DkU6ms8jI-cgRI-SvsnnllXEdSwXS8vU_6ubD8N2zyJKPNHppsugrAYbZd33TCznCxgXcc/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+030.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrzdS1ydxU68bV01kvY1K0scuy_WtBM-IJeB-ggAJPwaLOh0tMHqYvkENGXTYbmlMQR3ye6DkU6ms8jI-cgRI-SvsnnllXEdSwXS8vU_6ubD8N2zyJKPNHppsugrAYbZd33TCznCxgXcc/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+030.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I got both the <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/86824748/kona-bundle-inspired-by-echo-warm-fat?ga_search_query=echo&ga_search_type=user_shop_ttt_id_5630277">warm</a> and <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/86824593/kona-bundle-inspired-by-echo-cool-fat">cool colorways</a>....of course. They match the prints gorgeously! Colors include Aqua, Sage, Ash, Candy Green, Glacier, Nightfall, Snow, Ochre, Curry, Amber, Sable, and Coffee.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilbKIQiNaZVXndm4TpBos5DjZm1qEXWlawXcUmv7dFJtZvkpWgKkd6j0o8vjUlImZ_Bet4U_HtzLJuWZMt8y-n62VojzSzvN4GCByHW1sa4K9QgzIhZByli7cjQuyWfVibgmCBLWXCKeY/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+032.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilbKIQiNaZVXndm4TpBos5DjZm1qEXWlawXcUmv7dFJtZvkpWgKkd6j0o8vjUlImZ_Bet4U_HtzLJuWZMt8y-n62VojzSzvN4GCByHW1sa4K9QgzIhZByli7cjQuyWfVibgmCBLWXCKeY/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+032.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Plus they label all their konas, which I LOVE. Seriously, I have so many konas and 95% of them are not labeled despite my best efforts and I no longer have any idea what they are. </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPPf5wJ74hqnl1WFIzZsu3NvzkzqlX6uXWE6w311PXr0GWfPuP7_nsckwUE5pZsYMni5Av_HzMdWg9_aIcGV9cCyhrarhAWQnKkXAFhyphenhyphenbQKIdxekxZhU4WI8U86ownfrnWdxqpQIVsz4k/s1600/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPPf5wJ74hqnl1WFIzZsu3NvzkzqlX6uXWE6w311PXr0GWfPuP7_nsckwUE5pZsYMni5Av_HzMdWg9_aIcGV9cCyhrarhAWQnKkXAFhyphenhyphenbQKIdxekxZhU4WI8U86ownfrnWdxqpQIVsz4k/s640/Sew+Fresh+Fabrics+028.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Ahhh, so lovely! I cannot wait to cut into these beauties! Of course I need to finish the quilt currently attached to my machine....hmmm....details.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Also I can't do much new sewing before I leave on vacation this week! When I get back get ready for several pictures from one of the happiest places on Earth! </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">Until then my lovelies! </div>Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-5009181640969956402012-02-09T22:34:00.000-06:002012-02-09T22:34:36.139-06:00365:JanuaryWell I have been keeping up with this project pretty well which frankly suprises the hell out of me! <br />
<br />
Seriously I thought I would have quit this about 2 weeks in but it has been proving an excellent way to document my move and my crazy new life. Although I wish I was better about always using hipstamatic and not just my regular camera. <br />
<br />
Anyways, without further ado,,,my life for the last month!<br />

<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6786001489/" title="Me in all my cold weather gear! by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Me in all my cold weather gear!" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6786001489_8d04971288.jpg" width="374" /></a><br />
<br />
This is my first post from my new home in Massachusetts! The last 4 weeks have been exilerating, stressful, fun, intense, tiring, thrilling, and like 27 other emotions founds on the farthest reaches of a spectrum.<br />
<br />
I have changed my entire life by picking up and moving 2,000 miles away to a place where I had never been, to a place where I didn't know anyone, to a place that is drastically different from where I have always lived. So sorry about things being a bit quiet around here while I have been getting settled and attempting to adjust.<br />
<br />
Oh and I want to apologize for those of you that just read the blog for crafty things because while I have pulled out all my sewing stuff and set most of it up its not done and I haven't sewn a stitch on my machine! Although I am making some good progress on hexie paper piecing. Oh and all these photos have been taken on my iphone since my SLR is still in Texas and my point and shoot camera is still packed away somewhere that I have yet to find. <br />
<br />
I am lucky enough to have one friend up here but she lives about 40 minutes from me so I wont get to see her to often. But my first weekend here she took me shopping to get all my winter gear and took me up to Lake Winnipasauke so that I could see snow for the first time! <br />
<br />

<br />
We stayed at her parent's cabin right off the lake. It backed up the woods and was surrounded by other cute homes. It was gorgeous and peaceful and I totally got at that moment why people would live in all that snow! <br />

<br />
I loved getting to see snow and I had so much freaking fun playing around in it! Then the very next weekend it snowed where I am living! It snowed from about 9am to 5pm and I enjoyed every second of it. My house and the surrounding houses looked so adorable and lovely covered in that snow but my car had no idea what the hell was happening! LOL! Oh and here the mail stops for no one or nothing! I was amazed. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6786026443/" title="Untitled by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7168/6786026443_89a25463d3.jpg" width="374" /></a><br />

<br />
Cleo was a bit freaked by the snow too! She sat in the window almost all day, her little head constantly moving, very jerky, as her eyes shifted from one falling snow flake to another. In her fascination she was would get to close to window pane, touch her nose, realize how FREEZING it was, freak out, jump off her window perch, and run about 10 feet away from the window. Then within about 5 minutes she was back at the window watching the flakes!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6786028627/" title="Untitled by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6786028627_b9f8244971.jpg" width="374" /></a><br />
<br />
I also took a quick little video from one of my windows of the snow falling! So peaceful and pretty! <br />
<br />
<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" data="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" height="225" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="400"> <param name="flashvars" value="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=4629420773&photo_id=6786049109"></param><param name="movie" value="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786"></param><param name="bgcolor" value="#000000"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" src="http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=109786" bgcolor="#000000" allowfullscreen="true" flashvars="intl_lang=en-us&photo_secret=4629420773&photo_id=6786049109" height="225" width="400"></embed></object><br />
<br />
So y'all I hope that has given y'all a bit of insight into my crazy, fun new world! I will have of my recent adventures to share with you all soon! <br />
<br />
I just want to thank all of you for being patient with my silence (and now craft related scilence) as I have adjusted to my new surroundings. But my first project up is finishing quilting a quilt I was working on before I left Houston, and am trying to have it done by Valentine's Day so there is that to look forward to!<br />
<br />
Heart y'all!<br />

There it is. <br />
<br />
All the crafting supplies I am taking to Boston (except my jumbo fabric brick *cough cough*). My sewing machine, some crochet hooks, yarn, thread, etc etc etc. <br />
<br />
I can't believe I got it all to fit into 1 small Rubbermaid container (that I can barely lift - damn Bernina's are HEAVY!)Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-70653740089604257392012-01-02T03:36:00.002-06:002012-01-02T03:40:09.479-06:00365Or maybe a better title would be "I think I've lost my mind".<br />
<br />
That's right folks I am jumping on the proverbial band wagon (or off the bridge) and am going to attempt to accomplish the amazing feat of a photo a day for 2012. <br />
<br />
I am doing this because 2012 is going to be witness to the biggest changes I have yet to experience in my life. And what better way to document it than with a phone that never leaves my side and an app that produces my favorite kinds of photos! The goal is that at the end of the year I can have all the photos printed up!<br />
<br />
So without further adieu me, my iPhone, and Hipstamatic are going to attempt to record this upcoming year and my new life! <br />
<br />
And what better way to start than with a shot of my new life planner from Erin Condren! If this thing can't keep me organized nothing can! <br />
<br />

(And there is still so much more to do!)<br />
<br />
And despite my slight embarrassment at the sheer amount of it I had to share this photo with you guys. A jumbo space saver with about 1/2 my fabric stash. <br />
<br />
Yeah - this is only half...<br />
<br />
Oh and I cannot lift it by myself. I am actually really tempted to weigh it! Plus if you have never used a space saver bag, they become hard as a ROCK after you have sucked all the air out. And this one is like a giant boulder. <br />
<br />
Oh and to give you a sense of the size - that's my moms hand in the upper left corner and my gym bag on the right. <br />
<br />

Full of swaps, bees, quilts, and tons of craftiness.<br />
<br />
I cannot explain how much flickr, blogs, and my online peeps have brought to my life. It has provided me with inspiration, creativity, new skills, new friends, and more crafty loves!<br />
<br />
2011 was full of quilts and swap items.<br />

2011 was full of bee blocks.<br />
<br />

In 2011 I even learned that <a href="http://ablondquilts.blogspot.com/2011/02/needles-areuhsharp.html">needles are in fact sharp</a>....oops.<br />

<br />
2011 proved to be a year of creative growth thanks to all your crafty people and your impact on my life! And I can't wait for 2012! I am even breaking my normal rule about making goals or resolutions.<br />
<br />
In 2012 I want to do so much!<br />
<ul><li>Sew using my "special fabrics", i.e. my Tula Pink, my Heather Ross, my Anna Maria Horner - regardless of the fact that I can't get any more without paying an arm or a leg.</li>
<li> Just say no thank you! As others have pointed out I completely overloaded myself this past year with swaps and bees. I found myself stressed out trying to make deadlines (made worse by my CRAZY work schedule), stressing when I just couldn't make a block as well as I thought I should since it was techniques I hadn't done before (I''m looking at you starburst block!), and just stressed in general that people wouldn't like what I made them. The worst part though was because I had committed myself to so many other things I never got to sew as much for my family. I was supposed to make a quilt for one of my grandmothers, a tree skirt for my mom, and a bunch of other things. So next year I really want to focus on sewing for my family. </li>
<li>Make a quilt for myself! </li>
<li>Attend Sewing Summit! I didn't get to go last year because I was already going to my Jane Austen conference, and this year they are on different weekends so I AM GOING! </li>
<li>Keep up with my blog a bit better! Sometimes I go a little longer than I would like without blogging and sometimes I make things and give them away without remembering to take photos of them so I can blog about them! </li>
<li>PAPER PIECING!!! I want to practice, practice, practice!!!</li>
<li>HAND PIECING!!! I love doing this but don't have a lot of time for it, but I want to make it a priority this year!</li>
<li>Make 1 honest to god wearable garment! Just 1! (I am trying to make these goals attainable! LOL!)</li>
</ul>So hopefully I can actually work on these things, and 2012 will be even craftier that this year! I am pretty sure making a quilt for myself though will be accomplished quite soon since I am moving to such a cold place!<br />
<br />
Happy new years everyone and may your 2012's be beautiful and creative!Bryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17203387616325623565noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7615931725040842975.post-55713395224495140192011-12-23T23:43:00.000-06:002011-12-23T23:43:02.029-06:00Goodbye Houston - Hello BostonWell guys it is going to get pretty quiet around here for a while because I have big news.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6562477399/" title="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6562477399_82a50118ac.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
I got a new job!!<br />
<br />
Only it's on the other side of the country in Boston, MA. So I am in the process of turning my entire life upside down and move almost 2,000 miles away from my home in Texas. And holy cow y'all moving is the most expensive thing ever. I have moved a couple of times before but always for school - always with set time limits. So I could leave things at home and only take what I needed in a dorm or an apartment. Now I am taking everything - or actually it seems like nothing as I am getting rid of almost everything I own, which is a lot harder than I thought. Although when I get there I am going to buy a whole new wardrobe as it apparently gets a lot colder in the north east than it does in the south!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6562477669/" title="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7013/6562477669_f1fe784387.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
In moving I am leaving a lot behind more important that just stuff - namely my entire family. My immediate family though is very close. Especially my little sister who is who I made this quilt for back in 2008. Even as I type this I am questioning my decisions like crazy. In taking this opportunity I am giving up my life here, my possessions, and precious time with my family. I know they want me to be happy and do what I need to do for my career, but damn its really hard especially since this inst like school and I will be around again in 2 or 4 years. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6562478207/" title="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7004/6562478207_afe351c357.jpg" width="500" /></a> <br />
<br />
To date this is my favorite quilt I have ever made. I used Heather Ross's mendocino line because the Little Mermaid is her favorite movie, and those mermaids were just to die for. So even though I am going to be almost 2,000 miles away I hope my sister will continue to love her quilt, which she uses everyday now, and I get to come home and visit them all often. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6562478491/" title="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids" height="500" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7151/6562478491_a0b4467bee.jpg" width="375" /></a><br />
<br />
I quilted it really heavily by following the piecing and following my previous quilting line, so they are about the width of the walking foot apart. As a result of all of the crazy time consuming quilting and the softness of the mendocino fabric it has the most lovely drape ever. Plus I am a total sucker for white bindings. I love them because they just totally pop. You can especially see the denseness of the quilting and the brightness of the binding on the back side. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/utqtbry/6562477959/" title="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids by A Blond Quilts, on Flickr"><img alt="Beth's Gaggle of Mermaids" height="375" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7164/6562477959_e5dd7047fd.jpg" width="500" /></a><br />
<br />
So as I prepare to cross the Mason Dixon and head up north (geeze I am going to miss BBQ and Tex Mex) I am trying to stay strong, keep breathing, STAY WARM, and spend wisely (no crazy fabric purchases for me anytime soon) as I start a new life. <br />

<br />
It takes up your valuable time. It distracts you from work. It keeps you from other tasks.<br />
<br />
And I love every minute of it! <br />
